Hao Zhu, Maryam Kazerooni (first author), and Tom Overbye published an article in the November 2016 issue of the UEE Trans. Power Delivery. This paper focuses on estimating the substation grounding resistance to improve the modeling of geomagnetically induced currents (GICs).

JL Gannon's presentation goes over Geophysical Analysis, Instrumentation, Predictive Studies, and System Modeling. The project explains how the instrumentation was installed and how it is being analyzed. 

Through this project, the following will be publicly available:
•Geophysical data from four SHM stations
•Results from validation efforts
•Better understanding of direct impacts for system operators

Hao Zhu's presentation about GIC hazard mitigation being crucial for power grid reliability and stability. She focuses on GIC blocking device placement to block power through the network GIC flow.

Zhonghua Xu and other co-authors published an article in the Journal of Geophysical Research exploring the diverging effects of geomagnetic storms in March 2013 and March 2015. Investigating storms that occurred during similar solar illumination conditions allows researchers to isolate the effects of particular GMD phenomena.

Komal Shetye and Tom Overbye published an article in the December 2015 issue of the IEEE Electrification Magazine about the risks geomagnetically induced currents pose to the power grid. Shetye and Overbye investigate two distinct sets of complications that can arise when geomagnetic disturbances affect the bulk power system.
